CAP Grants is not the only thing we do — but it is one of the most concrete. The program has provided over $2.5 billion in new resources. CAP 2026 provides funding of up to $2,500,000 for individuals, groups, organizations, and projects. Awards are grants, not loans.
Support & independence
Who funds CAP
In 2025, the Center for American Progress received 95.7 percent of its charitable contributions from individuals and foundations, 2.1 percent from labor unions, and less than 2.2 percent from corporations. Foreign government funding comprised 0.2 percent of these categories.
That mix reflects organizational support for Center for American Progress — separate from how CAP Grants awards are reviewed for individuals, groups, organizations, and projects.
